Living Abroad

Our CherBook event on Living Abroad explored what it means to build a life away from home. We chose this theme because living abroad is about more than moving to a new country—it is a journey of identity, belonging, adaptation, and discovering new perspectives.

Activities

  • Icebreaker: Participants guess where the others come from with just a hint or fun fact about the country

  • Guided discussions: Participants reflected on what "home" means, the challenges and joys of adapting to a new culture, balancing different identities, overcoming culture shock, and the people and places that have shaped their journey.

Key takeaway
Home is more than a place—it is a feeling that can be created through relationships, experiences, and community. By sharing our stories, we discovered that while every journey abroad is unique, the search for belonging is something we all have in common.
